5.0 out of 5 stars Great value for decent USB laptop speakers, January 29, 2009

I just plugged these babies in, it was really easy. Just opened the box, plugged the USB cable in, and turned my computer on. You might have to restart your computer if it doesn't immediately recognize the speakers. There was no popping noise like some of the other reviewers experienced. I guess they were just unlucky. They sound pretty good, especially compared to the crappy Altec Lansing speaker built into my HP laptop. Even with every volume control turned all the way up, I could barely here the audio on movies and music which is why I wanted laptop speakers. And I wanted plug and play speakers powered through a USB cord rather than an AC Adapter. And I didn't want to pay over $20. The S150 speakers met all of these criteria. They're great!

2.0 out of 5 stars Performance Reflects the Price (There's Fix), March 16, 2009

This review is from: Logitech S150 USB Speakers with Digital Sound (Personal Computers)
I generally place a lot of stock in the customer reviews, as for the most part I have found the majority of the ratings to be accurate indicators of product quality. Accordingly, I purchased the Logitech S150 USB powered speakers based on relatively strong reviews. The first pair that I received rattled terribly and I thought that I just got a bad pair and ordered a second set. The second set is slightly better than the first, but the right control speaker to both sets rattle, sometimes excessively. The speakers will play adequately at low volumes, but if turned up to even a moderate level to overcome normal background noise, the right speaker will rattle, at least two for two for me. My recommendation is to purchase a different speaker. However there are some positive aspects to these speakers - they are attractive, small and the sound quality is not too bad, if the right speakers did not rattle, the S150 USB speakers would certainly rate at least a 4 based on the price... 5.0 out of 5 stars Great USB speakers!, January 28, 2009
By

This review is from: Logitech S150 USB Speakers with Digital Sound (Personal Computers)
Pros: These USB speakers have crystal clear sound with no buzz or hum. The volume is plenty loud for normal use. They are perfect for listening to music while I work. The stereo effect and ability to produce faint sounds are excellent. No bulky, power strip hogging adapter is needed. The speakers turn on and off with the computer. The USB drivers installed automatically (Windows XP). I cannot believe these speakers are so inexpensive.

Cons: The shipping cost almost as much as the speakers. There is not much bass, but there is more than I expected with small speakers. Music still sounds very good. The bass is certainly better than earphones.

Other Thoughts: I was hesitant to go with USB, but I am very happy I did. I wanted to be able to use these in a bedroom, I wanted zero noise with the computer off, and I did not want to have to remember to turn the speaker power off. Each speaker is 6.5"H x 2.75"W x 2.25"D. The USB cord is about 4' and is about the same length... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Could be better, November 2, 2011

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
First off, I am a Logitech/Harmony remote proponent, since I'm on my second Harmony remote (Harmony One)...the first one developed a bad key after 4 years of heavy use. I like the software-based system to update the universal remotes and the flexibility it provides.

I received this unit as part of the Vines program, so it was free and I don't have a bone to pick with Logitech. I was unsure that this was a product I would find useful, especially with my spouse bemoaning the fact that we have 'another' remote to contend with. I sort of wanted to prove her wrong. As you'll see I wasn't entirely successful.

The pros:
Packaging was excellent...this could have been an Apple-branded product from the way it was packaged. Even the inside of the box had some foam padding glued to the top (for some reason), but I was impressed. The unit can be seen in the photos...very streamlined and unobtrusive.
Setup can be easy, if you have an existing Harmony remote for your... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars The remote I've been looking for! (next step, grammar lessons), March 12, 2012

Customer Video Review Length:: 1:53 Mins

This remote is even easier to setup and use than the other Logitech models I've owned (638, 680, and 690). Programming is quick and easy, guided by the Logitech web interface. My media configuration is straight forward and I imagine typical. It consists of a DVD player, ROKU box, Verizon cable box/DVR, AV receiver, and Projector. It took me less than 30 minutes to unpack the remote, create an account on the Logitech site, answer a few questions about my media equipment and how I use it, enter the WPA key for my WiFi network , and move the Harmony Link to the room where I watch TV. The accompanying video gives some examples of how it works with the Link iPhone app.

The interface is well thought out. All the common functions are immediately available through well labeled, adequately sized buttons. The most common of them such as volume, mute, pause, etc, also can be accessed with a finger swipe avoiding the need to push buttons at all... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Barely 1 Star, October 6, 2011
By
Kieth Moon (North America) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Logitech 915-000144 Harmony Link - Black (Electronics)
Pros:
1. Easy to setup.
2. Provides basic remote functions Power, Play, Stop, Fast Forward, Menu, List, etc.
3. Provides tv programming guide

Cons:
1. Virtual remote is limited to basic remote functions.
2. You can't replace your actual remote if you use DirecTV, Dish or Comcast specialty buttons. For my receiver, I need to use additional buttons, but there is no free button in the virtual remote app to assign this function or any other one you want to use. And since the harmony link can learn commands, you would expect the virtual remote would provide available freebie buttons to use the way you want them to be used. Unfortunately, this feature is not provided.
3. Customer support is probably worse than the phone company technical support.

Summary - go get the Harmony 700 which does more than this disappointment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, July 3, 2005
This review is from: Logitech Z-5500 THX-Certified 5.1 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System (Personal Computers)
These speakers are even better than I read about. The main thing that nobody seems to mention is that these speakers basically have a built-in receiver so you can plug your DVD player or whatever directly into the speakers. This, imo, is so important that all the other competing speaker systems really don't compete. Obviously, it's not as good as having a real receiver and can't amplify as much as an external system, but most people that want to hook these speakers up to their computer and other devices simultaneously, and would like to save space and money, would really appreciate this. The toslink output is the highest quality I've heard. Also, I made the mistake that others have made of removing the screw on the back of one of the speakers, rendering it impossible to put the stand back on. And if you open it to fix the problem, you'll void your warranty, so I have to send it to Logitech to be replaced. So, if you need to put these on a stand, whatever you do don't remove any... After getting the MX1000 laser mouse and the Z-5500 speakers i fell in love with logitech. These speakers produce quality sound, they sound better than the Z-680 my friend has. I have SB Audigy 2zs platinum with front panel and an optical output. I am using Monster THX certified optical cable bought from amazon for $22 and my system rocks. the sound on my computer cost me $470 but it is worth it. Thank you amazon! they shipped it the same day, ordered on Monday and got it on Wednesday. I ordered it when the price was $306.99 then the price dropped to $279.95. I love Amazon, they refunded the difference after I emailed them. The speakers sound VERY clear, no hissing as with the Z-680 and an RCA cable. the subwoofer is huge and you need to have a space for it and it has a strong magnet so you need to keep it at a reasonable distance from your computer and monitor. The speakers cable are not adjustable, but i am guessing you can buy an extension cable if you need to, but the cable is... Read more

Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Oh and Did I mention WOW ?

I have three cables for 5.1 going from my sound card into the box. I have the digital out going from the soundcard, into the logitech for 5.1 dvd movies through my computer. As well i have fiber optic coming out of my sattelite into the setup box so i can listen to 5.1 while watching tv. Maybe not 5.1 but emulate pro logic it sounds great. So im definetly making use of all the inputs on the back of this baby.

This has a lot of features, and different modes you can use. It has Stereo (which is just front l/r speakers outputting sound), Stereo 2(front left/right, rear left/right), Pro logic II Movie (i dunno? Uses the center channel, less of the rears more of the sub, pro logic Music (heavy on the sub, uses all speakers). As well it's easy to scroll through the inputs Coax, Direct 6channel, optical.

The remote it comes with is pretty useful you can adjust volume, sub levels, surround output (dont know... Read more
