My cat loves to scratch on cardboard and this was a fun way to decorate the living room and have something new for my cat to scratch on and lay down on. The only thing, as with all cardboard scratchers, is that little pieces of cardboard get spread around everywhere so I do recommend taking the scratcher and shaking out the loose pieces into the garbage about once a week so it won't get on the floor.

I bought this for my cat after buying (and promptly returning) a carpet-covered scratcher that turned out to be a piece of junk.

This cat scratcher on the other hand is great! My cat is on the smaller side, so she's able to lounge all over the whale and scratch to her heart's content. It arrived promptly and included bonus organic catnip and a little feather toy that fits in perfectly as the spout. :)

I recommend this for anyone with a small to medium-sized cat. Larger cats might not be able to fit as well on it.

My cat loves this thing, he sleeps on it as well as scratches it. He wore his first one out. He is a big cat and there is plenty of room for him. He never claws the carpet or couch because he has this to claw.

This unique scratcher is custom made from eastern red cedar (also called aromatic red cedar), an ostrich feather, and a ping pong ball. It is 100% natural, solid cedar, no particle board, plywood, carpet, adhesives, ect. It has not been sealed so it still releases a wonderful cedar scent.

Made from one solid piece of red cedar, your unit will be approximately 18" long, 13" tall with a diameter of 5". Its legs and base have been beveled so that it sets flat and stable so your cats can climb, scratch and crawl under it.


The feather toy will sway and turn with the slightest air movement. If you place the scratcher where there is some air movement your kitty won't be able to resist it. And this scratcher has a mouse hole with mouse! Well, a ping pong ball that acts like a mouse. When your kitty goes for the ball it rolls up and away then when she removes her paw from the mouse hole the ball comes back with a "pong" sound. The ball "mouse" can not be removed from its hole because the opening is smaller than the ball. Your cats will be fascinated by it and will not tire of trying to capture it. This scratching post is very heavy and sturdy. I have an 18 lb. male and he can't tip it over. This is the first scratching post I've had that he can really use.

A few years ago I bought 3 extra-tall (3 feet) scratch posts for our cats around the house -- they absolutely loved the overly tall scratch posts compared to the crappy ones (and ultra-expensive ones) you see at PetSmart.

One of the biggest complaints I have with scratch posts is that they don't seem to be made by cat owners... they are either rickety and cheap and *short* (so no cat will really ever enjoy them) or they are really stable and tall and have tiny bases, or even rectangular bases so any cat walking up to it and scratching on it will pull it over on it's side -- it's unbelievable how poorly made some cat toys are.

Anyway, after a lot of research and looking at possibly spending $130 for a "Mondo" scratch post for the cats, we found this one and put in an order.

I will say that the shipping took forever... I think it actually took 2 weeks to get to us (in Arizona) and I was getting pretty hot under the collar about that, but after opening... Read more

I have a 10 lb. kitty who just loves to run and jump onto this post and hang there. Or she likes to climb up it and get on top. It does not budge!! If you want a post that is SUPER sturdy, this is the post for you! And the sisal rope is a big draw for the scratching.
