Album Description
2010 three CD set containing a trio of original '60s albums from the veteran Rock band: Mr. Wonderful (1968), Fleetwood Mac (1968) and Pious Bird Of Good Omen (1969). Fleetwood Mac's later years as a hit-making Top 40 U.S.-based Pop machine have eclipsed their humble beginnings as a Blues outfit in the UK, but these early recordings have retained their power over the years. Formed by guitarist Peter Green, the Mac were one of the most popular bands to emerge from the great British Blues boom of the '60s. This trio of albums may not have had the commercial success that the '70s/'80s version of the band had, but they were a lot more influential. Epic.

It's nice sometimes to hear what was going on but I think they interrupt the music too much in the remastered version. Sometimes it's nice to just sit back and listen. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful Classic British blues, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Original Album Classics (Audio CD) The best of classic British blues can be heard in this collection of the first 3 albums from Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. Green's distinctive shimmering vibrato tone that he somehow coaxed out of his guitar is truly chilling. If you already have "The Chain" boxset, you have a good compilation of these albums on Disc 4. For Green fans, I also would strongly suggest "Then Play On" and Green's 1979 solo return, "In the Skies." 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful BLUES!, By don Carona (the FORT) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Original Album Classics (Audio CD) You love the Blues? This is a great price for some classic pre-Stevie Fleetwood Mac. Green is great--be advised, this is NOT POP! |
