In the CD booklet it explains that this is a series of Grammy winners celebrating the 50th year of that award.The songs included are the simple award winning country songs, but they do not cover the 50 years, nor are the reason these specific songs are chosen. They are sung by the original artists, and they are the original recordings from the years 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1977, 1978, 1979 and 1980. Some years are represented by more than one song. Stand By Your Man, A Boy Named Sue, Rose Garden, For The Good Times, If I Were A Carpenter, When You're Hot You're Hot, The Happiest Girl In The USA, Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue, Mamas Don't Let Your Boys Grow Up To Be Cowboys, The Gambler, The Devil Went Down To Georgia,He Stopped Loving Her Today, 9 To 5, Always On My Mind.
