Album Description
One of the watershed jazz albums-1960's Time Out -plus the four LPs that followed its lead: Time Further Out ('61), Countdown: Time in Outer Space ('62), Time Changes ('64) and Time In ('66). Don't try to dance to these crazy time signatures-just enjoy the brilliance of Brubeck, Desmond and company as they do the immortal Take Five plus Blue Rondo a la Turk; Countdown; Three's a Crowd; Unsquare Dance; It's a Raggy Waltz; Elementals; World's Fair; Time In; Lost Waltz , and more!

Excellent value for 5 CD's. Nice packaging in mini original LP jackets. One note, lack of historical discographical info. As I was curious I now present a little chronological info:Jazz Goes To College - 1954 Brubeck Plays Brubeck - 1956 Gone With The Wind - 1959 Brandenburg Gate Revisited - 1961 Jazz Impressions Of New York -1964 After all is said and done "BUY THIS!" I mean really... 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful WOW do I feel cool now! Snap my fingers, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Original Album Classics (5 CD) (Audio CD) Dave Brubeck - the top of college cool back in the day. These classic LPs are from the time period around the Time LPs and fill in the gaps in the music. Not only is the music great. The packaging is great. But the price is great! I would recommend the Time series, 5 cd box set be purchased first, and then this box set. I know this is a lot of Dave Brubeck but you want to be back then when it was cool to listen to Brubeck. And after you listen to Brubeck today you are still cool. This is not 2010 jazz but a take of jazz from back in the day from the college side of the tracks. I would also recommend just about any of the Original Album Classics box sets. They represent great bargins for the CD collector / listener. Try these other box sets to find what the other side of the tracks were about and the hotter side of jazz from back in the day. Only warning... check your glasses... the print on the CDs is very small. |
